The Sd.Kfz. 251 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251 – special motor vehicle) was the most widely produced of the German half -tracks with 15,252 vehicles and variants produced by seven manufacturers. The 251 was designed to take Panzergrenadiers ( mechanized infantry ) into battle.
